A: There is definitely something to be said for having someone else do your makeup - it takes the stress off of you, and if done right, can give that extra glitz and glamour on your special day. If you choose to hire someone, make sure you have at least one trial run well in advance of your wedding day. You do not want
to end up hating how you look. Be sure to communicate what you want - if you
are looking for a dramatic look with eyelash enhancements and pronounced eye makeup, you will be disappointed if you come out with pastels and understated lips. Take in pictures of looks you like and keep talking as the person works. On the other hand, if you are just looking for a little kick up from your normal powder and gloss, make sure they don't go crazy on you.
That said. there is something charming about doing one's own makeup the day of. It can be a very relaxing time to yourself - a time to pay attention to your face and almost bond with yourself. Also, if your fiancé isn't used to seeing you made up, you may look more like yourself to him if you put your own makeup on. If you choose to go this route, you may still want to consult with someone to pick the right colors or get some new wedding day makeup. Department store beauty counters are an option or you may check in your area for an Arbonne, BeautiControl or Mary Kay consultant. These companies provide great service and excellent products. Practice applying your wedding-day makeup a couple of times before the day comes, and see how long it takes you. Leave plenty of time and don't stress out. You'll be beautiful either way!
