I believe you can do this and see results faster than you think! Don’t get discouraged! Enlist your attendants and your fiancé – it’s always more fun when you have support. We’d love to hear how you are doing, so check into the Forum!

Pay Attention
Most of the time we don’t even realize what we’re putting into our mouths. Pay more attention to what you eat and when you eat it. Make it a point to sit down when you eat and think about the flavor of your food and how much you are eating. When you are full don’t feel obligated to keep eating even though there is still food left. Many reputable eating programs suggest keeping a diary of what you eat. This can be a big help in changing your eating patterns.
Eat Your Fruits and Veggies
Make it your goal to eat at least five fruits or vegetables a day! Here are some ideas to squeeze them in:
  • Make an easy fruit smoothie with frozen fruit and some 100% fruit juice! Add some fat free organic yogurt to help keep your digestive track in order.
  • Keep baby carrots and celery on hand and eat with hummus for a great snack.
  • Experiment with vegetables you don't eat much - brussel sprouts, asparagus, beats.
  • Create a veggie tray on a bed of lettuce with sliced tomato, cucumber, avocado, shredded carrots and drizzle with olive oil and vinegar for a yummy first course.
  • Pack your lunch salad full of veggies with shredded carrots, radishes, peas, yellow pepper and add some tuna for protein!
  • Pick a few of different types of fruits for the week. Try some kiwi, red pears, pineapple, melon and pomegranate instead of just apples and oranges.
  • Go ahead and have 100% juice once in a while but remember that eating the whole fruit is better for you - it takes more energy and your body is able to absorb more of the nutrients.
  • Search for new ways to cook vegetables online!

Fats
Cut down as much as possible on butter - a little goes a long way. Use extra virgin olive oil as much as you can in salad dressings and recipes. Eat more chicken and fish rather than red meat. If you like cheese, eat small amounts or choose reduced fat cheese.
Drink Water
Get at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water a day. This helps clean your system out and prevents you from getting dehydrated. Dehydration can lead to headaches and irritability and makes you vulnerable to sickness. Not a good thing when you’re planning a wedding. To make it easier, buy a Nalgene in your favorite color and carry it with you. You’ll be surprised how often you reach for it!

Move as much as you can! Need some help?
  • Park your car as far away from the grocery store door as you can and speed walk in!
  • Organize your shopping list in order of departments and speed shop! Keeping your body moving is the goal.
  • Vacuum your floors and your ceilings. Get those arms up and attack the cobwebs in the corners.
  • Set your kitchen timer for 15 minutes and clean as much as you can in one room. This really gets your feet moving as you try to beat the clock.
  • Take a 20-minute walk on your lunch break.
  • Make a brisk walk around the neighborhood part of your morning routine.
  • Too cold outside? Put on your tennis shoes and walk the mall!
  • Break out those old aerobics videos and give them a try. Even the old ones are effective.
  • Check out your library for cool workouts like ballet, pilates, yoga, Tae-Bo, salsa dancing and more! The selection will keep you from getting bored.
